Witch wines to have a french president cellar?

Do you want to have a high standing wine cellar like the elite of french nation?

I give you below the short list of wines, spirits and beers apreciated by our french presidents since 1959!

Please note that alcohol is forbidden under 21 years old in usa and 18 years old in UK.

Le Général de Gaulle (1959-1969)

His personal residence was located in Colombey les deux eglises, just a few kilometers from Urville. He used to receive his guests with a glass of champagne and mostly champagne Drappier. A special vintage  was created in his honor : Drappier Charles de Gaulle

George Pompidou (1969-1974)

His favourite wine was the famous Bordeaux red wines:  Chasse Spleen AOP Moulis et Mouton Rothschild AOP Pauillac

Valery Giscard d’Estaing (1974-1981)

He has varied tastes in wine and alcohol.

He was born in “Auvergne” so he like the wine from his native hometownH : “Saint Pourçain” and liquors like “vervaine du velay” or “gentian“.

But Giscard is especially lucky to have a protected designation of origin named :D’estaing. This is a very small area of 18 hectares located in the Aveyron!

No suprising, Valery Giscard d’Estaing (VGE) is a fan of Bordeaux Château Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion Grand Cru but also Cheval des Andes from the same owner but located in Argentina.

François Mitterrand (1981-1995)

He was fond of  Château Haut Marbuzet en Saint Estèphe.

Jacques Chirac (1995-2007)

He prefer beers and especially the Corona beer and was a fan of Japanese culture.

Nevertheless, as President, he had to taste the good products of our country for example during the international agriculture show in Paris!

Nicolas Sarkosy (2007-2012)

He was the most sportmanlike president of our republic.  He was often seen jogging or cycling and never drunk wine or alcohol.

I’m sorry but you will have to add some gatorade to your cellar!

In 2007, during a meeting between Nicolas Sarkosy and Vladimir Poutine, all journalists thought that Nicolas Sarkosy was drunk with vodka.

In fact, he was sober and this weird reaction was due to his rough conversation with Poutine.

François HOLLANDE (2012-2017)

He wanted to be a president and a man like every french people.

He likes wine like most french people but never spoke about his favourites beverage.

During his term,  we remember that he decided to sell the greatest wine of Elysee.

Emmanuel Macron (2017- )

He is the actual President and want to seduce all french people.

He know that the wine business is an important part of our exportation trade.

Emmanuel Macron assumes his 2 glasses of wine per day and become an ambassador of the wines products in other countries.

The health minister didn’t seem to be ok with his consumption habits.

Former banker at Rothschild, his palace became accustomed to the red prestigious wine of Bordeaux like: Château Chasse Spleen, Château Lassègue, Chateau Duhart Milon.

He likes too white wine from Bourgogne : Chassagne Montrachet or Chablis.
